Jack McElroy of the News Sentinel writes about the importance of TCOG, the price of freedom and how fighting for public records is a neverending struggle:
TVA now refuses to provide the names and salaries of employees paid $180,000 a year or more. The utility says it only has to reveal its top two salaries because that’s all the Securities and Exchange Commission requires. That might be true if TVA were a private company; but it’s not. Citizens own it.
Similarly, the University of Tennessee athletic department continues to delay disclosing the terms of the contracts with Derek Dooley and his staff, arguing that the documents aren’t finalized yet.
